Future Hoverboard
The
Lexus division of the Toyota automobile company in Japan announced
it made a prototype for a hoverboard - a floating skateboard without
wheels. Lexus combined a superconductor, made of cooled liquid nitrogen,
and a magnet that does not need to charge to create the board. The
surface of the board is natural bamboo.
The hoverboard, called “Slide,” looks like the ones in the science-fiction
movie Back to the Future and the animated film Super Board.
Lexus said
it made the hoverboard as a prototype to promote technology and
innovation, but has no plans to commercialize the board right now.
However, Lexus will test how the board functions in Barcelona, Spain
this summer. “When technology, design, and imagination come together,
amazing things can be achieved,” Lexus tweeted.
Lexus is not the first company to produce a type of hoverboard.
Last year, a California-based company called Arx Pax also made and
sold its own version.

일본의 도요타 자동차 회사의 렉서스 부서는 호버 보드 - 바퀴 없이 뜨는 스케이트 보드-의 견본을 만들었다고 발표했습니다.
렉서스는 찬 액화 질소로 만들어진 초전도체와 보드를 만들기 위해 충전할 필요가 없는 자석을 결합했습니다.
그 보드의 표면은 자연의 대나무입니다.
“슬라이드”라고 불리는 그 호버보드는 공상과학영화 “백 투 더 퓨쳐”와 만화영화 “수퍼 보드”에 등장하는 것들처럼 보입니다.
렉서스는 기술과 혁신을 증진하기 위해 견본으로 호버보드를 만들었지만 현재 그 보드를 상업화할 계획은 없다고 말했습니다.
그러나 렉서스는 올 여름 스페인의 바르셀로나에서 어떻게 그 보드가 작동하는지를 테스트할 것입니다.
“기술, 디자인과 상상력이 어우러질 때, 놀라운 일들이 성취될 수 있습니다”라고 렉서스가 트위터에 썼습니다.
렉서스는 호버보드의 일종을 생산한 첫 번째 회사는 아닙니다.
작년, 캘리포니아에 기반을 둔 Arx Pax라는 회사는 그 회사만의 버전을 만들고 판매하였습니다.
